Madagascar a wonderland
Madagascar is a natural fairytale. Isolated and geologically ancient, it boasts a unique world of animals and plants. Nowhere else in the world are there so many species of chameleons. Lemurs are found naturally only here. Between 80-90% of all animals and plants are endemic.
In Madagascar, there are strange baobab trees, insects with giraffe-like necks, frogs that resemble the poison dart frogs of South America, and the smallest chameleons in the world - no bigger than a little fingernail. There are no dangerous animals, but there are snakes that mimic twigs, branches, and leaves. Whole families of birds not found anywhere else and insects camouflaged as red flowers add to the island's wonder. The fantastic rainforests, among the oldest in the world, house the greatest diversity of all the island's peculiar animals.
I keep coming back time after time, and by now, I have undertaken 15 major photo tours and spent more than a year totally on the island. It’s more important than ever to raise awareness of deforestation and the loss of unique species and habitats.
